About EAAH

Harvard University offers an interregional and interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in East Asian art history. A broad foundation in art historical study as well as specific research skills are developed through coursework, fieldwork, language study, museum visits and research, connoisseurship, and the study of adjacent fields.

The program sponsors numerous lectures, workshops, and symposia, as well as excursions and extended study in East Asia. Students are encouraged to develop an interregional perspective on their work, archival research skills, wide-ranging exposure to art historical theory and methodology, and tools for the close study of art objects.
